In April 2006, the North Central Association Commission on Accreditation and School Improvement (NCA CASI), the Southern Association of College and Schools Council on Accreditation and School Improvement (SAC CASI), and the National Study of School Evaluation (NSSE) came together to form a unified organization under the name AdvancED.
The accreditation process is based on a five-year term accreditation. The process helps focus schools on a continuous process of improvement, providing external checks, support, and feedback to help schools continuously improve.
Through the accreditation process, the school staff continuously reviews the standards and indicators to ensure that the standards are being met and to identify areas that the school may need to strengthen or improve. This review requires the school to identify the data, information, evidence, and documented results that validate that it is meeting each standards.
The accreditation process includes:
- In step 1, high schools are required to complete a self-assessment report. It is called the AdvancED Standards Assessment Report (SAR). This should be completed spring 2008.
- Step 2, a Quality Assurance Review team led by an AdvancEd trained and certified team chair will conduct a two day site visit. This will takes place during the 2008-09 school year.
If you have any questions regarding the accreditation process, please contact Patrick Romey at patrick.romey@spps.org or 651-767-8130.
Below are the two documents which high schools will need to complete as they work through their self-assessment.
